The Christian Dior Museum’s foundations

Popular with fashion lovers and history buffs alike, the Museum invites its visitors to enjoy a truly out-of-the-ordinary encounter. Uncover the inner secrets of a couturier who was the very embodiment of French-style elegance.

The collections

The Christian Dior Museum’s collections tell the story of the child and the man as much as the couturier, perfumer, gallerist and entrepreneur… Its public collections are composed of some 3,000 objects and documents.

Villa Les Rhumbs

Built in the late 19th century and the pride and joy of the Dior family, Villa Les Rhumbs was an inspiring setting for Christian Dior’s childhood. It shaped his refined sensibility and taste for beauty, neither of which ever failed to stimulate his creativity. In this regard, it is the first item in the Museum’s collections.

The history of the Museum

Its unique, captivating story is a reflection of the couturier himself. Fruit of a shared commitment and timely outpourings of generosity, the Museum opened in 1997, obtained the “Museum of France” designation in 2002 and was awarded the “House of the Illustrious” label in 2012.
