The workshops take place in the former reading room of the Dior family. Thanks to a little perfume organ, participants smell the different scents, learn to distinguish them (essence, absolute, concrete, oil) and become familiar with their methods of extraction (cold, hot).
Then they are introduced to the three phases of development of a perfume (maturation, filtering and dyeing) before entering in detail the secrets composing a Christian Dior perfume. Everbody can choose his or her "favorite fragrance".
A historic part is then devoted to the evolution of perfume from the first early twentieth century soliflores. The different olfactive families are also tackled (floral, chypre, leather, fougère, citrus, amber, wood) and a small vocabulary lesson is given so one would no more confuse Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and Perfume Extract. The workshop ends with an evocation of Christian Dior's olfactory world through the presentation of different fragrances created by the House.
Starting in June, workshops every Wednesday afternoon, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm for small groups of 10 people maximum.
